A. Lassonde Inc., one of the leading producers and distributors of fruit juices and drinks in Eastern Canada, is implementing e-learning training activities for its employees.

A. Lassonde Inc. and Humeng International Inc. have created a partnership to produce e-learning activities for employees located in the two Lassonde establishments located in Rougemont, Quebec.

Thirteen e-learning modules are presently being developed.

This first e-learning activity is on the HACCP program. In February 1999, A. Lassonde inc. became the first manufacturing company in Canada to receive recognition from the HACCP program of the Canadian Agency of food inspection in the area of transformation and packaging of juices and drinks for consumption. All A. Lassonde Inc. employees will be required to take this training that deals with hazard analysis of critical control point systems.

Pilot projects with employees have already shown that three objectives of using an e-learning approach have been met. These are:

• Decreased training time
• Decreased training costs
• Employees like this user-friendly way of learning and enjoy themselves while they learn
